On October 29, 2026, HNYT loaded and dispatched a batch of 2.5 ton battery mine locomotives for a mining customer in South America. The locomotives were built to a custom ultra-narrow track gauge that matches the rails in the customer's mine. Their compact body suits the small drifts and short haul routes of a small mine, where they will pull mine cars loaded with ore and waste rock. Spare traction motors and a crate of wear parts travel with the order.

In a small mine the haulage drifts are narrow and low, the curves are tight and the daily tonnage does not call for a heavy locomotive. With 2.5 t of adhesive weight, this battery mining locomotive pulls a short train of loaded mine cars on a gentle gradient while staying small enough for drifts of limited cross-section. A 650 mm wheelbase and a 5 m minimum turning radius let it follow the bends of older workings.
Battery power matters underground as well. No overhead trolley line has to be installed and maintained along each drift, and the locomotive produces no exhaust in workings where ventilation is limited. It is simply recharged at the charging point between shifts.
The customer's mine already runs on ultra-narrow rails, narrower than the 600, 762 and 900 mm gauges usually supplied for this model. Re-laying the track would have meant stopping production and replacing the mine cars too, so we built the locomotives to suit the existing system. The wheelsets, axle length, frame width and brake rigging were adapted to the narrow gauge, keeping the locomotive steady on the rail and inside the drift clearance. The finished units couple directly to the customer's mine cars.
Before packing, each locomotive was run on the workshop track to check forward and reverse travel, speed control, braking and lighting, and the battery and electrical connections were inspected. The cab, controls and battery compartment were then wrapped in stretch film against dust and moisture on the long journey. The KA plate on each body shows that the locomotives carry the safety mark for equipment used in non-coal mines.

Spare traction motors were prepared with the order so the mine has replacements on site. Their shaft ends were wrapped to protect the keyways in transit.

Spare gears, drive shafts and brake parts were bagged and packed in a two-compartment plywood crate that keeps the heavy gears apart from the shafts, then strapped shut.

Locomotives and crates went onto the same truck. Every crate carries a numbered HNYT label for checking against the packing list on arrival, and the cases were packed tightly so the load cannot shift on the road.
